M. Troy Murrell is engaged in the handling of formation and governance of business entities including choice of entity, buy-sell agreements, assistance with annual meetings and documentation and general advice on daily operational issues including human resource issues including EEOC proceedings, employment agreements and non-compete issues, negotiating and enforcing contracts, advising clients on various compliance issues; business transactions including mergers, acquisitions, sales and entity conversions; real estate transactions including purchase and sale transactions, title issues, leases, mechanic and materialman’s liens, mortgage lending, secured loan modifications, foreclosures and ad valorem tax issues; and estate planning and probate law. As an adjunct to both the real estate and estate aspects of his practice, Mr. Murrell has also assisted clients with transfers of various oil, gas and mineral interests. Although no longer active as a litigator, Mr. Murrell maintained an active litigation practice for twenty-five years, appearing before numerous state and federal trial and appellate courts. As a part of that practice, he participated in numerous mediations, successfully negotiating favorable results for his clients.
Mr. Murrell served on the board of a client entity for almost twenty years and has served on the boards of various social and charitable entities, serving as President of three of them. Mr. Murrell has successfully obtained 501(c)(3) status for three charitable organizations.
Mr. Murrell was born in San Angelo, Texas, in 1946. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin in 1968, and received his Juris Doctor from the University of Texas School of Law in 1973. He served in the U. S. Army from 1968 to 1970. He was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1973.
Mr. Murrell is married to Karen, with whom he will celebrate 50 years of marriage in August, 2018. They have two children and two grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Murrell are active in their church in which they have been members for forty-four years, both having previously served on the Administrative Board and now serving as Presidents of their Sunday School class.
