Kathy S. Cleaveland
Kathy S. Cleaveland practices in the areas of estate planning, probate and corporate transactions. Her estate planning practice includes basic estate planning (such as will and trust preparation), transfer tax planning with various arrangements to reduce gift, estate and generation-skipping taxes in generational transfers, estate liquidity planning, marital planning, wealth preservation planning and charitable planning. Her estate planning experience also encompasses business succession planning. Her probate experience includes participation and support in various will contests, representation in guardianships and dependent and independent administration of estates and assistance in trust administration. She has also devoted time to a general corporate practice with particular relevant experience in the areas of entity formations and maintenance, business acquisitions, divestitures and mergers and general corporate governance matters.
Ms. Cleaveland was born in Fort Worth, Texas in 1952. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Trinity University in San Antonio,Texas in 1974 and received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Texas School of Law in 1978. She was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1978 and is currently a member of the Probate, Trusts and Estates section. Ms. Cleaveland is also a member of the Probate, Trusts and Estates section of the Dallas Bar Association and a member of the Dallas Estate Planning Council.
